Fisheries biologist from Newfoundland and Labrador. 30+ years learning about the freshwater habitats of Newfoundland and still learning. Also, I spend a lot of time helping develop science advice for this great country. Girl dad of two beautiful women.
Here is a link to some recent Science Advice for American Eel in Canada. Eels are fascinating creatures, and despite a long history of human use (@greenleejw.bsky.social) much about their biology is still unknown #eel #science #fisheries

Time to try to boost my profile. Getting close to shopping season, the more eyes the better lol

If you've liked my work or want to help out a small creator, I would love to try to increase my followers a little.

Can I ask for a share??

Yesterday, we took a day trip to Cape St. Mary's Ecological Reserve. It was a brilliant sunny day at the Cape, a miracle all by itself, but it is good to remember we have world-class sites in our backyard. #nlwx #birds #wildlife

A truly remarkable resignation letter from a physician who was the chief medical officer in an institute within NIH, published in a medical journal. Containing also some proposals for what science culture and organization should do now. www.atsjournals.org/doi/10.1513/...

Just got back from advanced voting. Long-ish lineups (yay!), but all very orderly and pleasant. Folks who needed assistance, or needed to sit while waiting to vote were readily accommodated.

Thank you to all Elections Canada staff and volunteers.

You rock!

@devinheroux.bsky.social any chance you could get the PA announcer in Montreal to play Barrett's Privateers at the hockey game tonight. There should be enough east coast blood in the arena to get a full voiced version going, which would set the scene and mood perfectly🤪

In Newfoundland Labrador, the New Year arrives half an hour earlier. We spend that time watching for our home town’s name to scroll across the screen on @ntvnewsnl.bsky.social, hyping the more eccentric places. Blow Me Down! Granny’s Hole! Jerry’s Nose! Dildo, of course! Tradition, baby.

Let's get the #nltraffic hashtag really moving. 🚗🚚 Roads in Western #Newfoundland, Northern Peninsula, & #Labrador Straits area are snow-covered or partly snow-covered this morning, with icy and slushy patches. Visibility is reduced to "fair" on the Trans Canada Highway from Gallants to Robinsons. ❄️

Thanks!
