I’m with George Will on this point. He gives a few reminders: we’ve got two self-correcting parties; for every action there’s an equal and oppose reaction; and that the drift will inevitably swing back towards Dems (as they are the non-governing party). We don’t need to overthink this, as you noted.

Weird that educating the public (by Dems) failed. They really did not hammer it day in and day out, the way repubs do. Could have made the difference. And really doing hard against corporations.

I don’t think so. Musk is so cocky and blatantly corrupt right now he seems to be begging for comeuppance. Like that bratty kid in middle school who provoked the gentle stronger kid over and over until the stronger kid pummeled him.

Inflation was global. The US’s was low thanks to Biden’s legislation, but few appreciated it. He ended the Afghan war, and that’s when his approval tanked, never to recover. No active wars under his tenure, and he got called genocide Joe.

All the “genocide Joe” chants, and the “Kamala you can’t hide you support genocide” chants. Where are those against repubs? Those who helped elect Trump for this can sleep on that bed of nails.

It seems they are building a golden sandcastle as fast as possible. I can’t see this not catastrophically crashing down.

We have billionaires, but they don’t like wasting money just to “own” the other side.

Imagine social media like Bluesky was around in the early 2000s. I have no doubt we’d feel the daily calamities more viscerally than we did just from reading the papers inc a day, or nightly news. I was totally pissed then, but we would have felt it even deeper. Like we do today.

Free trade led to the strongest economy a country has ever had - survived a the 08 collapse, pandemic, trumpian malfeasance. If we revert to protectionism, it would lead to extreme inflation. I couldn’t care less, as I don’t buy much, but most people anti freetrade folks would see expenses balloon

Well said, sir. Hear, hear!

Buckley was a magnet for nuanced intellectuals - conservative heads with liberal hearts.

In a couple years it will be: eggs are the primary cause of high cholesterol, again..

Lease do! Ro will probably shift yo Indy then Repub. seems how these things go with the overt “lefty” crowd.
December 19, 2024 at 2:36 AM
Let’s start calling him Elon’s poodle.
December 19, 2024 at 2:34 AM
Maybe they’ll be forced to cut the bloated lefty programs of — [checks notes] military spending! (All that’s pretty much left after Reagan and Dubya).

Right? Bash the bunk bed above you, get a concussion when it falls.

Hah!!! In fairness, he tried the impossible: blending psychedelic with smooth jazz.

Ro has been sprinting toward the 2028 finish line for 2 weeks. He’s getting fatigued.

lots of proud boys and billionaires and crooning Pat Boone?
December 18, 2024 at 9:28 PM
Who is the featured dingbat selling such pablum? I don’t want to click on an abc news link.
December 18, 2024 at 9:23 PM
trump family’s the worst. I’m a Clintonite - nostalgic for the smooth sailing ‘90s - so have no qualms with Bill or Hillary. As for Liz Cheney, she’s got brass balls — her paps I don’t care for.
December 18, 2024 at 9:20 PM
Liz Cheney could snap him in half. If there’s one family he shouldn’t screw with, it’s the Cheneys.

So Dems aren’t the only ones who promote losing candidates (a la Abrams, Jaime Harrison)
