The Libs have basically said they'll do nothing new and focus more on energy bill costs, which aren't going to matter if the world burns down in the next century. #auspol

aside from Dan Tehan on 7.30 last night practically saying it's nuclear or bust, a topic that was very unpopular and got Dutton kicked out of his seat at the last election.
A YouGov poll in August said 77% of voters supported more action on climate change.

What they failed to do instead was to come up with an alternative energy strategy. They want to reduce emissions still by "our fair share" but failed to outline who the comparative countries are and how they're going to do it differently to Labor,

To be honest, that was the least offensive thing he did. Calling climate change a hoax and telling countries to dispense with compassion and deny entry to all immigrants was much worse.

Seriously, Nicks' response was so poor. Showing a complete lack of accountability or remorse for the whole thing. I doubt Quaynor cares but when you're booing the VICTIM of a homophobic slure, you've got some rocks in your head!

Free agency compo - Honestly, why is this still a thing? If you can't hang onto your players, you shouldn't be rewarded for that. Just get rid of it and the clear competition manipulation that it represents.

Pre-finals bye - I've always hated this as it really does not suit teams who finish top 4. If the AFL is intent on a bye, do it between prelim final and Grand Final to ensure a player with concussion gets a fighting chance.

Wildcard round - Just no. No. No. No. We have a long H&A season to work out who makes the 8. If you can't make it after 23 rounds, why do we need ANOTHER round to sort it out? We're not America - don't copy them. No fans want this.

Unfair fixture (2/2) - Top 6 play for a double chance or a home final. The other 12 play for the final two spots in the finals. Each team plays 23 times which fits our current model. It's not perfect but it's as good as I could come up with.

Unfair fixture (1/2) - This one is tough - hard to make it fair with 18 teams and 24 rounds. However, my plan is:
- All teams play each other once + Gather Round, where you play the Showdown so neither SA team gets an extra home game. Then you split the comp into three groups and reset the ladder.

Snoop Dogg - one of the bigger unforced errors the AFL has made. Worst entertainment decision since Meatloaf. We have so much great musical talent in Australia, why not tap into that and showcase it. Washed up American artists don't really speak to us.

Length of the game - don't shorten the quarters, just don't stop the clock for absolutely everything. Ball ups don't need to stop the clock unless it's taking too long to get the ball back. Get rid of boundary throw ins too - just make it last touch is a turnover against.

Umpires' bouncing of the ball - not the biggest issue about umpiring at all. I've said it before - they need to be made full-time professionals and we need to simplify the rules. Until that happens, forget about bouncing, it's a small issue.

Tassie licence - probably going to be a moot point as Rockliff is still premier and he supports the stadium. But the AFL has looked like bullies on this right the way through - they need to make some concession for a state that has struggling finances.

I've watched and played a lot of football so I think I'm pretty qualified to know what I'm talking about. And I know the rules. The AFL needs to get better at educating fans about them though. And that starts by making them simpler with less interpretation.

Agreed but this has to start at the top, if you can make it a much smaller issue at the elite level, this will filter down to the lower leagues. But you're right, we need to create better pathways and making them full-time professionals is the only option for that.
