For my trans friends who are concerned about passport applications/renewals.
Post in r/Passports: Passport adjudicator here. The gender changes have thrown our offices in chaos. Passport question/discussion: I work in a passport office and the gender changes stemming from Trump's executive orders have been chaos. The State Department is struggling to put together a coherent policy and things are changing literally by the hour in some cases. Basically the situation right now is this: Renewals asking for a gender change are now suspended. We're forced into just letting the applications pile up because we're not sure whether to deny them outright or approve the applications but issue the passports without the requested gender change. Applications with an "X" gender marker are no longer accepted. If you are a trans first time applicant and you have been able to get an amended birth certificate in your state, we'll have no way of knowing the amended BC doesn't match your assigned sex at birth. So if you have your documents in your current name and gender identity, I would apply ASAP.

I am embarrassed that I have photos of this on my phone. My love, Gidon Lev, was the "special guest" of this photo-op event. We thought, at the time, that it would be good publicity. But I would not share the photo today. I chatten with Elon Musk. I spent hours with him and walked with him through Auschwitz. I stood with him, looking at the nauseating heaps of hair, luggage, and shoes flooded with violet light meant to preserve it. Is Musk an antisemite? People, actually, it's worse - he doesn't care whatsoever. Elon, father of "little X" as he described his freezing cold son to me, literally does not care. He was unmoved by the experience. For Gidon, to be in the place where his father, Ernst, died on a death march - whether shot by the side of the road or having simply collapsed - was a huge deal. Elon did not care. He was about his press junket and his bodyguards. I was ten feet from him as he posed for the cameras of his entourage. He was utterly detached. He cared about how he looked. When he placed a wreath at Auschwitz and Gidon was overlooked, he walked away with the cameras whirring. This is Elon Musk. A sociopath, if ever there was one. To deduce, from this visit, that he is a friend of the Jews is desperately naive.

Poster text: What to do if you find a hypothermic animal. Do not feed. Do not submerse in water. Do bring inside out of the weather. Do dry the animal off. Do stroke to stimulate blood flow. Do go to a vet immediately. If you feed a kitten with a temperature of less than 97, you can kill it! If you warm them up too fast, you can kill it! If it is frozen to the ground, do not pull it off! Instead, get lukewarm water and pour it around and under the animal. Do not use hot water. Once free, immediately dry it off, wrap it in a dry towel, and get it to the nearest vet.
