I do some game dev stuff as Moment Studio and some music stuff as Balatran. And probably other stuff too. Working on a game called Driving At Night.

@qntm.org Obviously a mnestic, right? I wonder what the little people are doing the rest of the time.

The Hallucinogenic Mushroom That Makes You See Hundreds of Tiny People
Listen to mushroom expert Colin Domnauer explain the strange effects of Lilliputian mushrooms, including the sudden appearance of tiny people!

In the Loki TV series when two people who have deviated from the 'sacred timeline' encounter timekeepers in charge of keeping it in order, it's presented almost exactly like it was in Bill & Ted when basically the exact same scenario happened.

Love how on eBay this auction would be like "FAMOUS Kiss guitarist's amp, comes with golden certificate of authenticity, signed by the artist, $9000" but here in NZ the auction's just like "got this old amp, random name written in it, could mean anything, $1 reserve."

Games never quite managed to bring this kind of really crisp pixel art look faithfully into the 3D era. I really like this style.

Working on a new terrain system that's an infinite (but periodically repeating) grid, where space for the road is carved out.

Need to somehow make this also work with changing slope, so you can drive uphill at slow times and down into a canyon when the music's intense.

Does the blue car need to put their hazards on when entering this roundabout? The law says they must indicate both left and right.

I'm going to start keeping a log of development progress on my game Driving At Night. Not sure where the best place would be to keep a blog at this time, but I've started one on TIGSource: forums.tigsource.com/index.php?to...

Random discovery: These spiky 'jelly' PVC toy balls somehow make insanely good doorstops. It will absolutely refuse to roll if pushed by a door even against the full weight of a person. I can't see any existing doorstop designs using a "squishy with spikes" technique like this

New Zealand PSA: I'm afraid our birdsong was never described as "deafening" by Captain Cook or his crewmate Joseph Banks or indeed anyone else. This myth seems quite persistent.

Enhanced. This is the last Soviet rifleman that I've been looking for. Finally I can get Mission Accomplished.

Still an early prototype, but I've been working on a little game ('Driving At Night') which is sort of… imagine Audiosurf if it was a driving sim. The road and world react in real time to whatever you're listening to. Supports every service - Spotify, local files, YouTube etc.

I've compiled some tracks into kind of an EP, including a couple of new ones: soundcloud.com/balatranmusi...

Will be on Spotify soon, it takes a couple of days to update.

For anyone who says the Quidditch "150 points for catching the snitch" rule would never make it into a real ball game. Check out this paragraph from "Aztecs: An Interpretation" by Inga Clendinnen (1991):

Is there really no central website for hiring artists? I kinda thought I'd be able to go to like commissionart.com , filter on Oil Paint or Abstract Realism etc. Fiverr sucks. Does everyone just trawl the whole Internet for art they like and then ask if they do commissions?
