My 32-bit CPU lives! Still dealing with simulation vs. on-FPGA operation differences, but that's just debugging.

The most unbelievable sci fi trope is that technology still works after being duct taped together and buried in peat moss for millenia. I can't even find a water heater that lasts 10 years.

I realized that my CPU design could easily translate from the MiSTer framework to a dedicated PCB, but I also don't have quite the level of circuit design knowledge to handle the analog side of things. And an enclosure? lol
Man, I need some EE and ME friends to help in these types of moments...

I hate hearing people say "this could improve in the future" as a hand wave for genAI's factual incorrectness. Up to fundamental limits, anything can be improved. But people also need to accept the present rather than rely on a nebulous future!

Decided to go through some VESA specs and compare GTF timings against industry standard timings and... sheesh. Display timings are even more of a mess than originally anticipated. I'll stick to a table lookup, thank you.

After wondering what show Homelander was from, I finally got around to watching the first two seasons of The Boys. I have mixed feelings, but at least I understand why it's only ever been on the periphery of recommendations to me.

To argue with the politically ignorant is to slice aimlessly at a hydra. For every argument "won," three more implausible reasons for backsliding into fascism will grow. And no argument will cut hot enough to cauterize, short of their political champions negatively affecting them.

Something that bothers me constantly is that we treat leadership like a job, even though it's clear to pretty much everyone I know that the best leaders work alongside those who they lead, as equals.

DuoLingo has been steadily declining since before I signed up, but the switch from hearts (number of q's you can get wrong) to energy (essentially a timer) is the last straw.
For Japanese learning, I now use Renshuu only. It is unequivocally better than Duo in almost every single way.
