After wrestling with my Derwent Inktense pencils on something, I decided to do a swatch book of all the colours. being a tightwad I looked up how to bind a booklet and made one out of rag paper using a sewing technique. I am rather pleased with it.

She's unhinged. Also, adding the image again so I can alt text it. Why is it the big accounts just don't bother? If you were reading it online all you had to do was copy and paste instead of leaving it to mugs like me to do it. It took me about 3 seconds to do once logged in (+ I hate going there)

Please stop calling adult dogs "puppers". It infantilises them. A dog is not a pup, puppy or pupper after 12 months.

Doggo is fine though.

Thanks! UNS are great tanks. I got a 20c for my desk as a shrimp tank before deciding on the bigger one later. I'm battling hair algae in the upstairs shrimp tank, which is now overrun with ramshorns. That was my fault. I breed them for the pond and should have kept them separate. Otos are fab ....
Photo of my desktop shrimp tank. It's a bit messy but the shrimp don't care. Plants are red root floaters, a single dwarf water lettuce, an echinodorus reni, monte carlo (what's left of it, the shrimp keep uprooting it, creeping jenny, java moss and one I can't remember. There is also a catappa leaf on the substrate. The wooden bamboo skewer by the tank is what I use for squishing limpets.

How it started --- How it's going.

The community tank has been going just over a year now. Had a few ups and downs, apparently java ferns hate me. Creeping jenny makes a brilliant stem plant. Ludwigia palustris has given me that much yearned for red plant without needing CO₂. 1/3
Photo of a 20g UNS 60 long aquarium. The tank was cycling when this photo was taken (the process of getting beneficial bacteria to make it safe to add fish and shrimp). There are stones, a piece of driftwood, dark gravel and a few plants. The filter is small as it's only for cycling. Photo of the same fish tank 1 year later. The background plants have filled in well, there is a piece of spider wood and carpeting plants. The fish are happy and the shrimp are doing what shrimp do. Eating and keeping it clean.

Which seems unlikely, maybe in a decade or two. They've put most of the town west of (and including) the A7 in the flood plain. So cheers for that SEPA. That's going to affect our house insurance. Good job we plan to stay here until we croak. We are 85yds from the river, but on a hill!

The Esk is lively this morning, but not as lively as last night. You can see how high it got from the leafline on the bank. SEPA have just redrawn the fllod plain and put us in it. I calculated the river would have to rise at least 14ft from normal to even reach our front door. 1/2

Been working on making a seed packet template with a view to popping them online for a quid or two. Everything lines up and is easy to assemble with a craft knife/scissors and some paper glue. All drawn/inked digitally from my own photos. Quite pleased with this first one...

Terrible photo off my phone. The collective noun for herons is "siege". A siege of herons.. I like that.

It's pretty fluffed up, but I'm sure it's a grey heron. Wish I'd had my bridge camera with me.

It's the time of the year that the girls love. Log burner time! And yes, I know, I know. Pollution. We recycle/repurpose to cut right down on plastics, I have glass jars galore. Our wood is locally sourced from a tree surgeon. Fact is, it keeps the heating to a minimum 💰💷 ..and the dogs love it.

5 for me 😔. I was obssessed with our hedgie visitor when we lived down south,. Bought two bowls, stocked up on suitable food. Even made a feeding station! I miss having her around.

Two years since we lost Katy, and almost a year since we lost Gypsy and I still can't bring myself to take their collars and leads off the hooks.

I know they came to us as 12yo when mum passed 6 yrs ago, but I miss them so much. Absolute eejits, the pair of them.

Sighthound collars on a whippet themed set of hooks. There are two matching leather collars with a celtic stamp pattern, the insides of which are lined with sheepskin. There are also a small black leather collar and a small tan collar, both are attached to yellow leads with the word "NERVOUS" running down them. Behind those is another tan collar with braids sewn through it (Miah's old collar) and a tartan collar we bought to use for handslipping Miah when running, it never got used.
