This is Metroid. Everything is a key to a weird lock. Guns, suits, wildlife, dodgy masonry, gravity, darkness, light, robots, holograms, friends, even Metroids. Just shove em in the lock!

You hang out with them for about 5 minutes then they all get deaded. They're not nearly as memorable as creepy tripod monsters in the poison realm.

Based on the trailer, it looks like you rescue them and they help you open weird locks.

They are just a different shape of key. Unfortunately, a key that chats.

At the time I was like "Adam can't be trusted! Unreliable narrator!" But based on everything that's happened since, I think they meant it.

I think by giving Samus buddies in Prime 2 then taking them away, it enhances the vibe that she's isolated.

Getting them back later like so many suit upgrades...? I'm hoping it's a gamble that pays off, but I am sceptical.

Please don't die before Air Riders comes out. That would be tragic.

I love Fusion but its fairest criticism is it rarely leaves you alone before Adam gives you orders.

Prime 2 has Fed trooper buddies (though not for long...)

Other M gives you Adam AND Fed trooper buddies! AND they interfere with the mechanics of the game.

Remember Federation Force? I sure don't!

It's weird that Samus's buddies are *always* Federation troops. The Galactic Federation is canonically untrustworthy and as likely to kick off a huge bio-war as the Space Pirates.

But Samus is just loyal to them brave boys, I guess. Palling around with the armed wing of a corrupt government. 🙃

IIRC their surname was used in early promo materials for the show and then made it a running joke to never mention it in the show itself.

So I can only hope they continue in this bold tradition.
