I did end up inking it! Also, scanning makes such a huge difference, its crazy.

3/3 and my absolute favorite, The Goat Man! It's a local legend around here about a half man half goat that roams the sparse woods of Prince George's County. My dad used to try to scare us on long walks by suddenly running off trail and pretending the goatman was attacking him.
A grotesque half-man half-goat creature stares wide eyed directly at the viewer as if he had been caught suddenly in the beam of a flashlight. Behind him a bridge disappears into the murky twilight. The words 'Goat' and 'Man' frame the figure on either side of his head.

2/3 I was thinking a lot about how image was going to be used so I made a sort of frame. Blue crabs are big in Maryland, there's even one on my license plate! I thought about including some Old Bay, a seasoning with a cult following, but there were some rules against using brands in the art work.
The head and claws of a blue crab peak from the edges of the image. Underneath a loose neon impression of seaweed creates a huge contrast between that and the muted colors of the crab. The crab's body is a grey blue-green, the tips of its claws are bright red.

The prompt was "Maryland Treasures", so lots of freedom to interpret. All the same, I went really traditional for the first submission, and focused on the state flower. Nothing wrong with being occasionally simple and pretty~ 1/3

It’s been too hot for long walks recently but there are still nice things closer to home ☺️
Im the foreground a pale purple/pink rose fully bloomed, the edges of its petals are starting to brown. In the background slightly out of focus is another rose this one not yet bloomed A sunflower grows against the side of a house. The leaves have been ravaged by bugs but the bloom intact A white Shiba Inu lays in the grass, its eyes squinting in the sunshine.
