Too many people quoting the "First they came" poem take it literally and pat themselves on the back for "speaking up" against fascism now, but speech wasn't enough back then and it isn't enough now; the poem is politely warning you to *stop* things while you still can, not just talk about it.

By that simple act of putting his foot down and calling out Trump's insufferable bullshit to his face, Zelenskyy displayed more leadership than any other politician. He represents and sets a true example for all of the free and decent world. This is how you stand up to bullies and fascists.

Hot take: maybe stoically tolerating when someone intentionally takes a piss on your shoes *isn't* a mark of an enlightened mind.
Tolerance means an aspiration of mutual respect, not endlessly accepting bullshit. And good ideas and values don't win on their own; people have to fight for them.
