I’m not sure jobs actually want to hire people anymore. Timelines either no longer exist or are 8-12 weeks long, even for urgent roles. I’ve hired hundreds of people and never witnessed this kind of hostile applicant environment in my life.

A recruiter shut me down because I had the temerity to call and ask how quickly their client was looking to hire. She wouldn’t answer with a timeline, just repeated “when they find the right person” twice. So I sent in my CV and she sent me a rejection. It was verbatim a job I’ve held before.
