Authorities say the case involves alleged irregularities and the embezzlement of about $700 million in public funds tied to an Indigenous rural-development program during Arce’s time as Economy Minister (AP). The arrest comes a month after he left office, raising concerns the new government is targeting political rivals. El País reports President Rodrigo Paz has created at least 10 “truth commissions” to investigate state companies and public agencies tied to MAS rule over the past 20 years.

Alnabih said this is Gaza’s third winter in tents built to last “a few weeks, not two years,” as sewage systems, water networks, and fuel supplies collapse. “More than 250,000 tons of solid waste accumulated in every corner of this city… 75% of water wells have been destroyed. Only one Israeli body remains. ➤ Israel, he says, has “violated the agreement at every level”: keeping Rafah crossing shut, continuing killings across Gaza, blocking agreed-upon aid flows, and expanding demolition west of the so-called Yellow Line. ➤ Badran said that delaying implementation “leaves the whole region in a state of instability,” because the ceasefire was the product of massive international pressure to stop a two-year genocide.
