Research shows it’s not “us vs them”. Any person put in a position of privilege, even for a matter of minutes, even when they know they are cheating, starts to feel entitled and less empathetic to others.

As a geropsychologist, I know that many providers will will drop out of Medicare if this happens. Then, they also will not be able to accept any of the Medicare Advantage plans. So, anyone over 65 will end up having to pay out of pocket and try to submit claims to insurance themselves.
From the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office: The Big Beautiful Betrayal triggers $500 billion in cuts to Medicare because it balloons the deficit by trillions. All to fund more tax cuts to billionaires. Americans deserve better.

What psychology research has found. To summarize, we are social creatures, so the more people we see that affirm our views, the more strongly we believe them. What can change this is when we try to explain a process in depth and we realize we don’t understand all the steps.
