Sadly, it’s such an iconic tree of New Mexico, and thankfully there are efforts to restore the cottonwoods along the banks of the Rio Grande that have declined due to mankind’s negative influence on the river. It’s sad how people don’t recognize the positive influence of great trees on their homes.

They are everywhere where I am 🤓 they have a great time flocking to the ornamental crab apple tree in the yard

And as the first light of the sun begins to slowly creep up, watching the birds rise up in the early light is difficult to put into words how amazing and beautiful it is. Will post those photos after I have had a chance to download them.

True, breathtaking as it is now, 100 years ago, absolutely spectacular. Even 30 years ago from what I have heard, it was amazing. It’s still early and the cranes and geese haven’t all arrived, the peak happens in Dec/Jan.
