Science nerd, dog lover, and equilibriologist. I study the human vestibular system and balance control.
I'm an amateur morris dancer, crocheter, and consumer of sci-fi/fantasy media.
FYI: Portland is not a "war zone." *We don't need troops here.* Like most cisies in the US, we need funding for programs to improve access to housing, healthcare, and for updates to infrastructure.

As a balance researcher, I find it helpful to return to the classics occasionally. Photobomb of my pup Maizie because she loves to lay on my feet when I read.

I feel that it it important to balance work and life. This weekend, I did so by attending (and performing at) the Northwest Folklife Festival. I was able to experience art, dance, and music from around the world.

I had a wonderful time at a local conference focused on #basalganglia #research. So proud of all my lab mates who gave talks!

As a woman in STEM I am happy to be celebrating International Woman's Day. I had to overcome the "girls are bad at math" that initially caused me to shy away from a STEM career. I got top grades in stats during my PhD. 📊📈To all the women and girls out there, don't let society hold you back!🧠

I'm very pleased with the reception of my first ever podium presentation at American Balance Society meeting. So great to see #vestibular and #balance research!

One of the biggest let-downs after attending a conference full of presentations on advances in #physicaltherapy based on human health research is to read about additional cuts that will heavily impact future research.

I had some fantastic conversations while presenting my poster at @aptaofficial.bsky.social CSM today. So great to have interest in an underrecognized topic: #Vestibular dysfunction in #parkinsonsdidease. 🫨😵‍💫🧠

At my first @aptaofficial.bsky.social CSM in over 10 years! Enjoyed the first presentation on #scientificskepticism. Hope the message continues to spread among PTs.

As a queer person and newly minted scientist, I am deeply second-guessing my decision to go soft-money in my career track. The new US administration is already causing so much damage.

My sweet dog, Maizie, loves to snuggle with me on cold winter mornings. I imagine she dreams of squirrels and endless petting.

I'm excited to be a part of the lab that conducted this research! Early #physicaltherapy could be beneficial for people with continued symptoms following #concussion. 🧠🧪
