Astro Royale
I dropped this early last year, but I got some interest back with the axe earlier this year
I’m still disappointed that the apocalyptic setting isn’t utilised at all, and the power system never really becomes anything more than just being okay

Ace Ventura: Pet Dective
Honest to god I wouldn’t know what to write here
Shoutout Jim Carrey I guess?

Origin
A true BOICHI masterclass when it comes to it’s art.
The story was alright for the most part, with some pretty well-written moments here and there, however BOICHI will always shine when it comes to his detailed art direction and composition, and for a WEEKLY series mind you!

Porco Rosso
I was ready to put it in the mid pack, but this movie was way more heartfelt than I initially thought. It’s also genuinely the funniest Ghibli movie I’ve seen yet, like what do you mean “a maffia hosted dogfight is being live spectated by hundreds of civilians”?

Hades II
Rolling credits on Hades doesn’t really mean a whole lot, however it still has to count for something!
I probably won’t have the time to get through the full epilogue but this game is satisfying enough as is.

El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie
A solid enough epilogue to the hit Breaking Bad series. I don’t really feel like it added anything note worthy to the BB-universe in general, but it was nice to tie up the final loose end of the series.
And with that, the “BB-trilogy” is completed!

Lord of Mysteries
If anything, the art direction, animation and overal atmosphere were straight up stellar. It’s crazy how much effort went into not just the high-octane sequences, but also the mundane moments and backgrounds.
Just a shame that the story felt a bit flat overall.

Chainsaw Man The Movie: Reze Arc
It’s insane to think that it took 3 whole years to get from Season 1 to this movie. What’s also insane is that the sequences in this movie were fucking NUTS to experience.
Let’s hope Season 2 will drop sooner rather than later!

Steins;Gate The Movie: Load Region of Déjà Vu
This movie asks the question “what if you take Okabe’s pain and suffering, decrease it just a bit, and hand it to Makise?”
The answer is “more certified Steins;Gate depression!”
Overall solid watch, gives me the urge to rewatch OG S;G

Yeah, this one hit hard. The way the story shifts it’s perspective every so often really keeps you hooked from episode to episode.
The interpersonal character drama, (post-)apocalyptic nature and survival elements all make this a series that is sure to hit my favourites list!

Kaedegami
A series with a very promising start, only to quickly fall into a spiral of arcs that were too short and had an insane lack of build-up and pay-off
The art was the highlight but that alone can’t save your series in the current Jump environment

Trillion Game: The Movie
This was definitely more of a Haru movie than a Gaku movie (he still got his moments don’t get me wrong), which is a bit of a shame but this was still a very fun watch.
That being said please stop putting romance in my playboy business overlord story

Bakugan: Gundalian Invaders
At first, I was skeptical of this season, I only caught glimpses of it on TV as a kid and the story never made a lot of sense because of it.
But now? It’s honestly a really entertaining season that brings Bakugan to places it hasn’t been!

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Beyond The Grid
Going from Shattered Grid to this feels like a bit if a letdown. With a different writer at the helm, this story feels less like a PR story, and more like a fanfic featuring older cast members. And the story in turn, feels very… strange

The Summer Hikaru Died
It’s a shame the mystery only started to build up too late for me to actually care a lot about it. And while the visuals and soundtrack are both on point, it was especially the animation that often lacked any purpose or substance within the story in my opinion.

Better Call Saul (Season 6)
Not only did I enjoy this more than BB, I straight up think that this is the better show out of the two
Saul Goodman, and the extended cast of BB, all get infinitely more time to shine in this emotional, funny, but gut wrenching series
And it’s all good, man

The Death of Ivan Ilyich (Leo Tolstoy)
A fair enough short story that I kinda struggled with to read at the start, but as I was working my way through the mini-chapters it suddenly started become more clear exactly *what* I was reading, and I’ll say by then I was really intrigued.

Dr. Stone: Science Future (Part 2)
By now we’re gone past all my favourite Dr. Stone moments but I don’t think I’ll need to further mention just how exhilarating this part was.
Shoutout Suika, she deserves the world, and on to the grand finale!

Grand Blue Dreaming Season 2
Lord knows this is the greatest comedy anime to ever grace our screens and MAN am I glad it’s back!
S2 manages to carry the whacky energy from S1 and amplify it by a thousand as the college crew dive club does literally everything EXCEPT diving

Sakamoto Days (Part 2)
I think it was a good thing to split this season up, I liked Part 1, but Part 2 received just that extra bit of polish to really make the fight scenes pop.
We’re also finally getting to some of the better parts of SakaDays, so I’m excited for what’s next!

Bâan: The Boundary of Adulthood
Took a bit to get into, but even for a short film this one manages to be extremely gripping, and I gotta say
The Your Name energy is strong

Call of the Night Season 2
Immaculate vibes: the anime has returned, and it blows S1 straight out of the park!
Anything from the “high-school romance” plot/harem never grabbed me previously, so I’m so glad that S2 mostly drops it in favor of a lot more horror-esque interpersonal drama
