so yeah, unfortunately the market is still very much stuck in a low cost modality because buyers still see ebikes as "nicer bikes" instead of the far more transformative new device they are. This may be where Rivian has a chance to rebrand them as a "device," but ~$4k is still a lot of scratch

everything other than a super low-end strategy, like the one that has propelled Lectric's market growth, seems to be a dead end in terms of product-market fit... it will be interesting to see if the new Rivian spin-off Also can change that, but it won't be easy

the sheer concentration of ex-Tesla folks at Waymo really is something. I know plenty of decent folks survived Tesla, and obviously the culture problems there start with Elon... but at some point you have to wonder if there are so many of them that that culture starts to seep in around the edges
