"They had a decade to get it right and it's still garbage" feels like it should have been the headline here, rather than *checks notes* literally the final paragraph
The Model X we drove for three weeks had a few issues, including a significant rattle from the rearview mirror/forward camera area, and some of the gaps between the gullwing door panels and the body were uneven. During testing, after the Model X had crouched down into its "Cheetah" stance during a launch-control start, we got an air-suspension error and it refused to crouch on subsequent launches. But, even worse, the right front wheel on our test car—which arrived with fewer than 500 miles on the odometer—worked itself loose after roughly a week of driving. After stopping to inspect what was causing a cyclical noise and what felt like a wheel-imbalance vibration, we found the lug nuts to be no more than finger tight. Thankfully, they held on a few days earlier during testing when we confirmed the Model X's 149-mph top speed. Ten years on, while plenty has changed and much has been improved, the Model X is still a few tweaks short of finished.

In Ashlee Vance's 2012 profile of Musk, the prototype for his 2015 book, Musk does talk about going to Haiti for a vacation of sorts... so he was already taking vacations to the Caribbean and spending time with local kids, apparently?

I got wasted, too, on some drink they call the Zombie.” Bryn Mooser, co-director of Baseball in the Time of Cholera, confirms the trip to Haiti. Musk showed up with 450 toys and 35 MacBook Airs for an orphanage. He taught the kids how to fire rockets into the sky during a barbecue, and then set off into the country to visit a village. Did Musk bring all of those presents on his private jet? “Yes, but we don’t mention that,” Mooser says with a wink.

Welp, apparently I missed the story about a transcript in which Ghislaine Maxwell claimed she first met Musk on the island in 2010 or 2011, years before the scheduled (but unconfirmed) December 2014 visit!

Obviously not "take it to the bank" stuff, but plot-thickening!

There's reporting that puts Musk at one of Al Seckel's parties in Los Angeles. Seckel, a fascinatingly shady character who died mysteriously in 2015, cohosted the MindShift conference with Epstein at Little St James in 2011, but I can't find evidence Musk attended.

Edwards remembers meeting, at Seckel’s parties, Tesla and SpaceX founder Elon Musk, drone pioneer Paul MacCready, magician and MacArthur Fellow James “Amazing” Randi, and Dudley Moore. “He would bring everyone together the way Hearst would bring people to his castle,” Edwards said. One of the biggest names he met through Seckel was physicist Richard Feynman. Edwards had dinner with Feynman at Seckel’s house, met the two of them for lunch at Caltech, and even went camping with them.

Apparently Musk was in St Barts in 2014, where he and his then-wife were apparently distinguished by their "themed and very secret" parties, which The Hollywood Reporter called "the absolute best."

St Barts is not part of the USVI, however.

The talk on the screeners circuit in St. Barts was a debate over whether Leo was going to get a well-deserved fourth Oscar nom for The Wolf of Wall Street. Elon Musk and his gorgeous wife, Talulah Riley Musk, arrived to St. Barts in time for New Year’s Eve. (And the boat talk was all about whether Apple would acquire Tesla and have him run the company.) Being with them is always like entering a magical playground. Their parties are themed and very secret — the absolute best.

Well, the book is too profound, and its critique cleaves too closely to the heart of the technologized society we now occupy, to summarize briefly... but the basic idea, as it relates to therapy specifically, is that humans are not machines, and therefore can't be fixed as (and so, by) machines.
There are undoubtedly many techniques to facilitate the therapist's imagi-native projection into the patient's inner life. But that it was possible for even one practicing psychiatrist to advocate that this crucial com-ponent of the therapeutic process be entirely supplanted by pure technique—that I had not imagined! What must a psychiatrist who makes such a suggestion think he is doing while treating a patient, that he can view the simplest mechanical parody of a single inter-viewing technique as having captured anything of the essence of a human encounter? Perhaps Colby et aL give us the required clue when they write; "A human therapist can be viewed as an information processor and decision maker with a set of decision rules which are closely linked to short-range and long-range goals, . . . He is guided in these decisions by rough empiric rules telling him what is appro-priate to say and not to say in certain contexts. To incorporate these processes, to the degree possessed by a human therapist, in the program would be a considerable undertaking, but we are at-tempting to move in this direction."' What can the psychiatrist's image of his patient be when he sees himself, as therapist, not as an engaged human being acting as a healer, but as an information processor following rules, etc.?
