Now, Rheinmetall is part of a huge plant project on Northern India. The country is an attractive market. So far, business in the country has only made a modest contribution to sales, but that might change. The gov is spending a lot of money on military tech. India has been edging closer to Russia.

South African Rheinmetall subsidiaries handle the business. According to internal documents, they supplied ammunition factories to, among others, Argentina, Colombia, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Iraq and China.

Ich habe großen Respekt vor vielen Zapp-Recherchen. Aber dass ihr die Inhalte dieser „Recherche“ wieder kaut, die vor allem aus unsäglichem Geraune ohne Belege besteht und daraus längst Bekanntes als Neuigkeiten zu verkaufen, finde ich echt schwach.

Tut mir leid, lieber Hans-Martin. Ich schätze deine Arbeit sehr, aber hier liegst du falsch. Die Vita eines Autoren sagt nichts aus über die Qualität einer Recherche. Hier hat er sich leider verrannt, liefert mit viel Schaum vor dem Mund keine Belege nur Mutmaßungen. Das reicht nicht, sorry.

Dafür liefert diese „Recherche“ doch kaum Belege. Stattdessen ist sie voll mit unsäglichem Geraune und liefert so jenen Munition, die andernorts Kolleginnen und Kollegen verfolgen. Sicher kann man über Finanzierungsmodelle von Journalismus diskutieren aber doch nicht so.

One of the many problems with this "investigation" is that it purports to uncover things that were never secret. OCCRP has always been transparent with its funders. I don’t know what happened at NDR, but maybe instead of censorship, they simply insisted on adhering to editorial standards.

Eine der vielen Probleme dieser "Recherche" ist, dass hier Neuigkeiten suggeriert werden, die keine sind. OCCRP war immer transparent wer sie finanziert. Diese Informationen sind easy abrufbar. Wie verlässlich die Darstellung der OCCRP-Reaktion ist, kann ich nicht beurteilen.
