RTCs are also just logistically infeasible in these cases. These aren’t new medications. We know what they do to development, and in a short amount of time it becomes quite obvious who has taken the placebo or not. Lasic for the double blind study.

Reactionary content doesn’t need controversy to generate clicks; people will share articles with shocking headlines anyway, and if the paper is right wing they’ll write the “woke mob attacking us” post anyway. Leaving those ideas uncontested makes them seem popular.

That was more common in the buzzed era and is only one model out of many. Many of the topics these pieces focus on already have built in audiences who share and comment on them, with or without pushback, so the engagement is already there. If there’s no pushback, bad opinions seem like consensus.

I disagree with AOC on this one. Not engaging with bad ideas makes it look like they’re uncontested. I think the trick is to respond, but to not accept their framing of things in your response.

Id have to see the specific content you’re referencing. It can be that, but botted accounts often need to build up a post and engagement history so they dont get filtered. A new account posting only political content is pretty sus, so they need to switch it up.

Both explanations can be valid.
