clean energy infrastructure @CATF

here, it's always infrastructure week
Hey James, we at CATF are tracking the recent executive, judicial, and proposed legislative attacks on NEPA to understand the full scope of impacts (and in anticipation of more attacks to come). Our recent blog post includes a timeline of key events: www.catf.us/2025/06/rece...
The recent Supreme Court decision is the latest unjustified attack on NEPA. Here’s how to actually improve permitting.
The Seven County Infrastructure Coalition v. Eagle County ruling, aimed at weakening NEPA, will not improve project outcomes.

If we want to expand clean energy, we need permitting reform that protects people, communities, and ecosystems—not shortcuts based on shaky legal ground.

I break down what’s at stake in my latest for @cleanaircatf.bsky.social:

At @cleanaircatf.bsky.social, we support consistency and stability in permitting & environmental review processes to provide industry and communities with more confidence, not more confusion, lead to better project outcomes, and deliver a stronger, more modern grid.

Completed permits have historically provided certainty to project developers and investors, suppliers, and communities. For innovative technologies like #offshorewind that attract new investment, develop supply chains, and build up domestic workforce/manufacturing, that certainty is essential.

Even if the #EmpireWind1 project is eventually allowed to continue, harm has been done to the conditions necessary to rapidly scale the U.S. power system to fuel economic growth.

Reneging on already-issued #permits on projects under construction sets a harmful precedent for all energy infrastructure investment and erodes developer and investor confidence in building large infrastructure projects in the United States.
