Mom was putting the turkey in the oven one year when the foil pan bent, dropping the turkey on the floor. I ran over and scooped it up, then we cooked it and said nothing because she gets very stressed on Thanksgiving and I don’t eat turkey 🤷♀️
In this house there is not a drop of executive function so we eat dinner, and I insist on charcuterie or some grazing food. Because if I am sitting there with an empty stomach at 7 pm, listening to my parents’ shock that the turkey is still not done AGAIN, I become the worst version of myself
I am also curious what your one non-negotiable Thanksgiving item is.

Went outside with my dog and stopped in my tracks because I’ve never been able to see the Northern Lights with just my eyes from my house in the southern part of the metro before. What a cool surprise

Anyway, getting diagnosed with ADHD at 31 doesn’t mean I “didn’t have it” before. It means I spent three decades misunderstood, being really hard on myself, and not getting the care I needed. My life was worse for it, and it didn’t have to be.

I love that trainers in baseball watch pitchers and will come get them if they notice an injury, even if the guy doesn’t complain. I want that for me. Let a doctor watch me do my typing job and be like “oh no, you’re exhibiting signs of stress, let’s get you out of here”
