We also used simulations to predict the number of mating males required to mitigate the negative effects of genome erosion. One to five males per decade would be needed to remain within a 5% window of genetic change.

However, our results and field data suggest that high male territoriality in the Crater and few mating opportunities for immigrant males could have exacerbated the effects genome erosion.

I would also add kakī (black stilts), but most likely there are other examples of NZ birds with different types of genomic data...
