Ragwort flowers are so pretty, and I saw many #pollinatorpals visiting including Gatekeeper, Chalkhill Blue, Mason Bee and hoverflies. However, peril awaits some......one unfortunate Gatekeeper had been caught by a Crab Spider hiding amongst the petals.

There’s a huge patch of Common Fleabane in my local park which is looking glorious! I spent a bit of time staking it out but as it was warm everything was a bit too speedy! I did manage to catch up on this beautiful Painted Lady though 😍 #PollinatorPals #WildflowerHour

The image for this week’s #wildflowerhour challenge post is one from W. Keble Martin’s classic wildflower guide, The Concise British Flora in Colour. Isn’t it a beauty? There’s some very lovely members of the Lamiaceae or #DeadNettlefamily can you find one for #wildflowerhour this Sunday 8-9pm?

After three long years, the last part of my PhD work is now published in Science!

We found that ash trees in the UK are evolving (some) resistance to ash dieback; a rare case where natural selection is happening quickly enough to see within a single generation.
