Here for a good time, not a long time.
Have to say I find I get more engagement on Threads than I ever did on Twitter (I don’t post enough on here to be honest). I enjoyed being accused of acting “privileged” because I said I found the world building and back story of The Force Awakens unsatisfactory earlier. God bless the internet.

Obviously everyone is entitled to their own opinions & not everyone is going to like the same things as me, but the reviews on @letterboxd.social are insane. Okay, I don’t know why it cost so much, but who honestly cares what a film costs?? It’s a perfectly fun action/adventure, not Worst Movie Ever

I watched #TheElectricState last night and really enjoyed it. If it had been released in the cinema I would have made time to go see it not felt that I’d wasted my money. I think a lot of people probably feel the same. I don’t really understand the backlash tbh

I completely agree with the stance that AI in creative spaces is theft, and using it for commercial image generation is ick… but as someone with *zero* artistic ability and no money to pay for an illustrator, well, it has its uses. I won’t, obviously. But I kinda wish I could.

Holy crap… my insta timeline is full (for some reason) of terrible AI-generated videos. But I just saw some on the Bad Place that were so convincing I thought the account was taking the piss and just posting real video clips. They are almost completely convincing unless you look frame-by-frame.

Just discovered that the mighty US Consumer Product Safety Commission made an actual album. Which is bizarre enough in itself. What’s even crazier is that it has some actual honest-to-goodness bangers.

Drokk! TODAY is my TWENTY YEAR anniversary of buying @2000ad.bsky.social! Immediately post-Total War, all the stories part-way through, a terrible place to start from, but I fell in love anyway and haven’t looked back. Here’s to the next twenty!

This is incredibly disappointing, especially from The Guardian, of all newspapers.
OpenAI refuse to disclose the source of its training set. But I figured I'd try to find out if the strikebreaking AI tool the management used to replace journalists' labour was based on our journalism stolen from us by OpenAI by giving ChatGPT the following prompt...

So sad to see the news about David Lynch. One of the all time great film directors, his body of work had a profound impact on me. We will not see his like again

The details of the allegations against Neil Gaiman are utterly horrifying, with Gaiman coming across as a monster completely dead behind the eyes. But the number of women (!) saying Amanda Palmer is worse than he is almost as shocking. Complicit? Yes. But he did what he did.

A day or so ago my wife mentioned to me a mutual acquaintance I haven’t seen, spoken or thought about in over a decade. And today lo and behold, guess who Twitter/X suggested I might want to follow today? But, y’know, it’s all just a coincidence, right? 😒

Whelp. Excited for a movie. Sad to see Brumm is more-or-less exiting after that. Would have loved to see him pivot it to shorter seasons of longer episodes a la The Sign, but it’s impossible not to respect the decision #bluey x.com/officialblue...

I appreciate *that* shot in the 28 Years Later trailer could be the very first shot in the movie, but it still feels very spoiler-y. I’d love it if it was just a little Romero-style background gag, but even then it’s still spoiled. We’ll find out next year, I guess…
