Having quitted Twitter/X I am pleased to find you here! And I am looking forward to reading the 3rd Edition of Health Inequality which I have just ordered.

We have had an electric car for 6 years; charge it at home, used in 90% of our journeys. Was cheap to buy because of all the state grants (France) at the time. As you say, infrastructure is poor, so for the few journeys we make where the destination is more than 90km, we use our “other” car.

You already know wealth is unequal but did you know how unequal?

On official figures, the top tenth own half of everything

The bottom three-tenths? They own 1% of all the wealth between them

PH are billed as being more “hygienic” but I cannot see how. People seem to use them in exactly the same way as CH, reusing all day long. The only difference is that at the end of the day (or even several days) the PH are thrown away, whereas the CH go into the wash.

I grew up in the pre-PH era, when we tucked CH up our sleeves, down our bras, in our knickers (this was also the era when women and girls clothing had few pockets).
