In fact, if you want to get technical, it's not even a picture of a black hole, it's a picture of the hot glow from accreting material around the black hole, *and* it's not the first image of it either, it's the first spatially resolved image of it. So this was wrong in pretty every meaningful way.

Yeah, thanks for that... I have a PhD in astrophysics, I was a professional black hole astronomer, like her, for 13 years and I've been a professional scientist for more than 25 years. I reckon I have a good idea of the effort involved, and what was earned and I'm not minimising her contribution.

No. She's an astronomer, not a computer scientists, and she didn't 'make' the picture of the black hole, it was observed and she analysed the data. Blimey. Come on, this is supposed to be the good place!

When was this video, and what was the setting he was talking in?

A statement akin to "thoughts and prayers".

I was asking because I was looking for publications on neurodivergent children and school absenteeism and future life impacts, but I couldn't find any. The papers in the mashed-up google scholar page are all EMDR-based. Do you have any on the former?

Urgh, yes, it is prone to do that in situations like this!
