A little late in saying this but @tkingfisher.com’s A Sorceress Comes to Call was a lovely piece of story and wordcraft. One of my favorite pagebound experiences of the summer.

Loved making this episode exploring the question we all should be asking - do we own anything on the internet anymore? Welcome to Remix Culture and the Scraped Internet.

Do you ever look at your iPhone and think: who in the Steve Jobs horrified ghost approved that? And by “that” I mean this:

The rules of how we show up online are shifting at a breakneck pace. I talked with my cohost Brad about this and his drive to ditch the internet (maybe you resonate) on this week's episode of Working/Broken:

Is Authenticity Working or Is it Broken?

Good reading month in January with the blend of topics, styles, and formats that keeps me motivated and clear-headed.

Other than the top 3 listed the others were not my favorite, but still good.

The Bee Sting’s ending… WTF.

10,000 words on False Spring complete.

A personal look at the cultural implosion of the pandemic up seen through the lens of a Gen Z content creator, his Q-Anon mother, and the secrets and future promises of their middle America community, under the shadow of technofascism.

Finished You Dreamed of Empires. A gorgeous and one-of-kind work. Like nothing I’ve ever read. Deserving of all the year end lists it’s making.

📚I🩶ed: My First Book by Honor Levy:

Levy has been framed as the first GenZ Wunderkind of Letters and she certainly shows she deserves it with this collection of essays.

A month of incredible books! But the two that will live with me the longest will definitely be “Lies of the Land” - a look at the story we tell ourselves about rural America and “A Children’s Bible” the breathtaking and swift climate dystopia novel. They go well together!
