There’s also the issue of public perception.

Anti mask sentiment is a problem and people have been harassed, assaulted, spit on & more just for wearing a mask.

When you pass a mask ban, even with a medical exemption, you reinforce the notion that masking is “wrong”.

It emboldens anti-maskers:

A number of folks are pointing out that there are medical exemptions to mask bans as though it makes these ugly laws “ok”.

Medical exemptions are wildly problematic. Police aren’t doctors and shouldn’t decide who’s medically justified in masking.
