Six hard-hitting facts about faith schools
Faith schools in the UK are a problem, and now the evidence is piling up. We’re not going to sugarcoat it. Faith schools are causing religious indoctrination, segregation, and division in this country...

Great, thanks, The Quiet American it is. And it gives me an excuse (unnecessary, but hey) to mooch around some secondhand bookshops looking for a nice edition.

Do you have a favorite? I’m thinking of reading either The End of the Affair or The Quiet American next.

Thanks for the recommendation, I’m definitely heading in for more.

An abomination! I think I need to find a new crowd on Instagram because over there a sprayed edge is cause for quite implausibly riotous scenes. The excitement is disturbing. The contents of the book in question are of course an irrelevance.

I’ve been too scared for too long to say what I really think about sprayed edges for fear of ostracization from the book community. Can you go first please?

It is a lovely village. I’ve played a few rounds at the Chevin with members: the Riley’s (Mike, John and David) are probably on a board in the clubhouse somewhere.

It’s not a shop anymore. It was on the corner of King Street and Fisher Lane. I’m old though (56), this was in the early 1970’s. Played cricket for Duffield until around 1991/2.

Yes. I was born and grew up in Derby, though we had a shop in Duffield when I was little, and me and my dad played cricket for them for many years. My family are still in Derby.

I’ve just noticed in your profile you’re a Derby fan - are you from there?

Here in France every village has a ‘bassin’ with free running water. As a cyclist, a runner, and a parent I have always appreciated this.
