Most people won’t have heard the third voice on here. At 2:54 Roger Taylor joins in. The story was that the song needed completing (in NY) but Fred was bored and Brian and David didn’t see eye to eye. So Roger finished the production with Bowie and added his vocal harmony.

The beauty of it is it highlights the depth of vocal talent in the band, and although it was stitched together over time you can almost imagine the three of them around a mike taking it in turns to sing the lines. It’s a much maligned song from a much maligned album buts it’s one of my favourites

I’m a 50 something woman on the Isle of Wight who got a beep from one of our (former London Underground) trains when I stopped to watch it from a bridge the other week.

I share your kids joy.

The first time I saw QAL live in a hall (rather than outside at the IW festival) it took me a good several minutes to realise it was playing over the PA system. Then every time since, when it started, I knew it was 22 mins and 32 seconds until the show would blast onto the stage.

Every day is a day for some Queen. There’s something in their catalogue to suit whatever mood or circumstance you find yourself in.

There is no smell of death. Just the simple joys of autumn smells, sounds and the childish pleasure you get from unblocking a drain. Happiness, even in the darkest times, is only an action or two away.

Or blown away by the autumn winds once it’s dry. And our neighbours’ - who we don’t know - basement flat doesn’t get overrun by the flood waters of climate change.

We get huge pleasure and joy from clearing the drain. Sometimes with a welly clad foot, sometimes with the old ornamental rake from the garden. It bubbles and gurgles as the water is carried away and the debris, pushed to the centre of the road can be scooped up and put in the compost if we like…

We have two drains, one on each side of the road, outside our house which sits at the bottom on a small hill. The rainwater courses down the hills bringing the leaves, pine needles, branches and acorns with it. The buildup causes flooding that never threatens our house. And yet…

True…

I have this but no record player. I don’t understand why this one was never put on the streaming services…

I’ve done the same with my central heating clock - makes no difference to the cost but saves me about 10 minutes twice a year cos it’s so bleedin’ complicated!

Agree - love that show

Yep I knew that. There is a universe (if you believe in the multiverse) where he did go and join them and also one where Roger joined Genesis…

Also they look like May and Mercury in a universe just a bit further right in the multiverse than our own…

Would we go Earls Court or Hyde Park?

Excellent book with a great concept. She wrote another called Her Fearful Symmetry which I also enjoyed

So weird - new outlook or old? (I stuck with old which might be why I can’t replicate it)
