"When he glanced at the tape, he saw the iron oxide flaking off, that he was catalyzing the very process he hoped to pre-empt. He let it happen for nearly an hour, then repeated the process with five more loops."

How ‘The Disintegration Loops’ Saved William Basinski’s Life
The composer’s ambient masterwork, created from disintegrating magnetic tape, became synonymous with 9/11. When he made it, his own life was falling apart.

Just read Alexander Baron's The Human Kind, the 3rd in his war trilogy ( shop.iwm.org.uk/collections/... ), all of which I've read this year after discovering him through his later London novel, The Lowlife. Very affecting and gripping writing. #books #alexanderbaron #iwm

Terible news about Dave Ball. It's difficult to overstate the effect Soft Cell had on me as a kid. Thanks for the brilliant music, Dave. www.youtube.com/watch?v=M-ER...

I'm not Stewart Lee, but I also absolutely recommend the mighty 14 Iced Bears in London (and Brighton!)
Cheers to the legendary Stewart Lee for his recommendation about our upcoming gig in London

1 in 4 transport workers were born overseas.

1 in 7 UK business founders were born overseas.

1 in 5 university academics were born overseas.

The UK would be screwed without them.

I literally live on a council estate in Archway. I have a mezuzah on my door, my next-door neighbours are Iranian.

It's totally completely fine? Sorry, actually, it's nice. We have little chats. Take in each other's parcels. They bring me delicious iftar during Ramadan. I lend them my garden hose.
"Is Britain about to blow?" asks Matt Goodwin promoted a two hour special event on the subject.

Their greasy desperation for violence and carnage, so they can profit off it, is so disgusting.

I just discovered that, should the Tories be in power and I, a foreigner, was unable to work anymore, I should not be able to claim any benefits, despite paying tax and NI here for over three decades.
This really is not getting the attention it should. The Tories' latest proposal is to exclude *any household that includes any foreign national from any benefit*.

And when asked about it, they keep citing small boat crossings - a minute fraction of migration - to justify it. ~AA
