Winter chanterelles late this year but a good harvest, this was my second batch. My son cooked them with butter and garlic as a pasta sauce.

Until yesterday I had never heard of this incredible 2mm Cannon ball fungi, Sphaerobolus stellatus, well worth a google. Pic1 size comp pic2 cup and ( canon ball)peridiole. Pic 3 Empty cannon and pic 4 cannon ball. My great thanks to Richard Clifford and Bertie at NT Croome.
