I’ve never seen a nest. Spend a lot of time in old Hazel plantations, lots of interesting fungi etc. May I ask where you are based?

I’ve seen three, the other two were fleeting, warm weather must be delaying their slumber.

I was captivated, spent an hour just staring, one of the “ cannon balls” shot out while I was watching. Must delve into macro, my pics don’t cut the mustard.

NT Croome is an awesome place for fungi, earth stars, birds nest, wrinkled peach and a 2mm canon ball fungi which was spectacular if difficult to photograph.
