Agreed! Putting work inside constructor/destructor creates a lot of room for human error.

Leaving it all to be cleaned up in one function (destructor) is a recipe for “forgetting to do it”.

There are a lot better patterns to help you think about and manage lifetime to better avoid foot guns.

Yup, in game dev, hear about it all the time from Unity devs. It's not limited to that though, you can make these mistakes anywhere memory is allocated.

I've been dealing with this problem in every language I've developed in. Fortran, C, C++, C#, VB, F#, Typescript, GoLang, Haskell, you name it.

I love C# (and Typescript), so please know I’m coming from a kind place.

It may be easy to spot in a one off, but when you are reviewing thousands of lines of changes across tens of repos with hundreds of contributors, with burnt out teams, delivering to hit hard deadlines…

It becomes not easy…

on the other hand, modern witch and Wiccan ideas are somewhat tied to forms of feminism

many of the meetups have a history of creating a safe space for women to gather and freely discuss things in solidarity

it’s not always the case, but that can be an empowering thing for people

I work in entertainment media

we have to cover a lot of random stuff to “engage the audience” and once we have one, the ad sponsored bits come in

but most of it isn’t sponsored, it’s us chasing new things to write about and advertisers fill slots around it

it ain’t great, but it works

Yeah, technically, it’s an ad for this store. I hear ya

dude, let people enjoy things

I’m not really religious or superstitious or anything, but I doubt anybody got hurt pretending to be a wizard and putting some quartz stones in a fake leather bag 🤣

there are so many worse things in the world, let them have this one 😅

I enjoy driving… but dang, I would love to just snack and read books on my way to everything instead of “having to drive”

Seriously sad about what happened to the Green Line here in Calgary

We could have had a train line right near my home!!!

Walking distance! Imagine that?!

Good for you.
October 31, 2025 at 6:12 PM
I agree with you and you aren’t looking for an “answer” but I want to get something off my chest

This is what everyone in a “Christian household” is thinking when one of the kids marries a non-Christian

If you can “convert” the new person, you’re better than devout, you’re doing “God’s work”

I re-watched 10 times cause this soundtrack is unreal ❤️

I’m stuck because both of them have really cool hats… I don’t think you can go wrong here
October 27, 2025 at 4:44 AM
I hope the move goes well!
October 27, 2025 at 4:38 AM
yeah, this makes a lot more sense

even if it sounds right… I always question her intentions for why she’s saying what she says

follow that rabbit hole and it will take you to a very dark and uninformed place 🫠
