@maro254.bsky.social @gavinverhey.bsky.social any "solution" to the hybrid (non-)problem in edh that doesn't also make twobrid and phyrexian mana also "fixed" is going to involve a lot of weirdness and be confusing.

@maro254.bsky.social @gavinverhey.bsky.social I played my first avatar jumpstart game today. Fun format, but it was really a major disconnect (almost visceral) to have green and blue cards in my red/black deck (even if I could cast them).

@maro254.bsky.social @gavinverhey.bsky.social it is clear that this float for feedback denotes a forgone conclusion. If it isn't too late, maybe just fudge the rules in the alternartive "'edh' draft" format, which is not really actually edh (60 card, duplicates)

@maro254.bsky.social @gavinverhey.bsky.social in magic hybrid isn't meant to make a card either/or in terms of color: it is a casting flexibility for the decks the card can go in. It is still a casting flexibility in edh for the decks it can go in. Just like in non-color identity based formats

@maro254.bsky.social @gavinverhey.bsky.social "restrictions breed creativity". The hybrid color identity restriction in edh doesn't make a hybrid card unplayable, just playable in fewer combinations. This also means that builders are encouraged to seek alternatives, making more cards playable.

@gavinverhey.bsky.social @maro254.bsky.social in commander color identity distinctly different from color. The fact that General Tazri is intended to be cast with only white mana and is a white card on the stack and in all zones doesn't mean it can go in Isamaru EDH.

@gavinverhey.bsky.social @maro254.bsky.social please respect the sanctity of color identity and keep hybrid as is in commander.

@gavinverhey.bsky.social final feedback on edh four: please keep color identity as it is. It feels like WotC is trying to remake edh in it's own image piece by piece. It still feels wrong to tap for non identity colored mana when "can be used as mana of any color" tech exists.

@gavinverhey.bsky.social other feedback on your four edh questions. Don't ban Rhystic. Don't Ban Thassa's Oracle ( ban consult if you must). Don't ever ban based on cEDH unless they splinter off.

Resurrecting this: @gavinverhey.bsky.social if you are considering a new bracket for edh, please make a "Bracket 0" that uses the edh banlist only but uses the original edh philosophy as guiding principles. i.e. game changers aren't limited, but the mindset isn't fast ultra optimized. 0 for original
@gavinverhey.bsky.social Please, for the love of conversational aides rather than arguing-algorithms, make the Game Changers list be: "These are cards you should announce are in your deck at level 3 and below" rather than a concrete number. Let brackets truly be defined by intent, not math.

my favorite CIA fact that puts many of its early/deranged activities (e.g. MK Ultra, agents putting psychedelics in each other's coffee cups) in important context is that it was formed only in 1947. it was less than 20 years old when JFK was killed, younger than homeland security is today
Suddenly, out of nowhere, a declassified World War II-era CIA guide to sabotaging fascism in the workplace has become one of the most popular free ebooks on the internet:

@ethanfleischer.bsky.social I signed on to this new platform specifically because the only thing I missed about that bad old platform was the ability to remind you that Maeveen O'Donagh needs a card. A really good one too. Thanks!
