We're beginning to see the true sensitivity of climate to greenhouse gases, and it's bigger than almost anyone expected. A huge challenge to us all to avoid runaway climate. Energy transition, justice, sustainable buildings / agriculture / horticulture.
It is not alarmism!

And atmospheric CO2 will carry on rising until we stop emitting just about ANY at all. And then it will rise some more because of climate feedbacks caused by what we emitted in the past. Hence the huge CO2 drawdown required to remove at least some of this. THE COST... It's total economic stupidity.

The beans did well too. We gave them stakes to grow up to reduce shading of the corn plants, and the fertilising effect of the beans will have helped the corn despite the light competion. We'll plant a bit further apart next year to let in more light, given our lower sunlight intensity in the UK.

In the open area the squashes produced only male flowers all summer, but under the sweetcorn flowers were of both sexes and so all the squash fruits formed in the shade. Granted it was a hot dry summer, so more similar to Mexico than usual, but we'll repeat next year with more corn shade than ever.
