What would that conservative bias be? A microcosm of the same one in the broader, notionally liberal media: that right wing tantrum is naturalistic, whereas left wing anger is contrived. The former is a force majeure that must be planned around, the latter can safely be dismissed as unrepresentative

Or to put it another way, if scored video game reviews only ever illuminate the inadequacy of scores when they foreground a progressive ideology, that would describe an inherent conservative bias in reviewing.

The boat, it is said, "technical errors" misled

"a certain number of people *would* be de-housed, it's true"
Most interesting scene in Into the Storm, so far (I'm about halfway through. I've always found the moral calculus of "total war" interesting, the way tech impresses greater & more dire concessions to personal ethics.)

I fully buy the theory that they reserved this full surrender for after the midterms and then gave up at the moment literally anything was asked of them. Trump's barked about the filibusterer before and the GOP didn't want to bear it then. I'm supposed to believe that suddenly it's a groundswell?

all evidence supports the theory that A) Dems have little appetite for a down-and-dirty political fight (because they've literally never had appetite for a down-and-dirty political fight) and B) they don't want to wage that fight over their own holidays because they're pansies

They could *at the very fucking least* have ridden this out through the GOP supreme court deciding on Monday whether they've got the political cover to rescind same-sex marriage or not, just to push on every position they've got, but of course they didn't.
