Passionate about landscape spirituality, written books celebrating our built and natural heritage, including the guide Britain's Pilgrim Places. Faith inspired but disillusioned with institutions. Been a naturist all my adult life, happily open about it.
No question the media is right-leaning, but I do remember the Tory omnishambles budget in 2012, including the pasty tax, which the media tore to shreds. And I'm not sure Liz Truss survived her premiership entirely unscathed by the media :-)

Really rather annoying to have this stupid label put on my pics by BlueSky, and I bet my appeal gets nowhere. Even so... I have had one person with inappropriate content interact with me (now blocked) so yeah... all of human life is here.

Final holiday of the summer over, Scotland and Wales for me this year, and these pics capture the vibe. After years driving and flying south for sun, as most naturists do, I found SO much freedom and nature connection in our Celtic landscapes. And... started research on a new book

Oh, same cover image as Alexandra Walsham's work of genius, The Reformation of the Landscape. Those books are now on my wishlist, thanks for the tip!

Spirituality, skinny dipping, timeless flow of a river.

People would have swum here like this hundreds of years ago, when this monastery still functioned, and long before too. A peaceful and deeply spiritual experience today, which BlueSky will classify as 'adult' content. It's not, dear algorithm.

A small but important (to me :-) bit of social history today, as the renovated BN Sunfolk naturist site was officially reopened. Founded in 1931, this venerable club was facing closure in 2020 but was bought by British Naturism, which has invested in new buildings and facilities.

It's one heck of a hike walking along sand to Cofete, it's so tiring walking on that stuff. I found the return journey easy enough to do, back the way I came, I think it was less than an hour from beach back up to the mountain ridge. And once I did a circular route, see my map but ONLY at low tide!!

Bit niche this but a cutting to share amidst all the other less gentle news. Found an article in Church Times dated July 1960 musing whether a Christian should join a 'nudist club'. Written by a regular columnist, then the vicar of All Saints Margaret Street, its conclusions seem fair enough.

Sunset in Lanzarote, bathing pier bravado. Staying in the peaceful naturist village of Charco del Palo in the north-east of the island. One resident told me he likes it because not so many tourists come, so there's one place that's not going to attract protests against mass tourism.

Yep I've been browsing, what an excellent resource, thank you!!

I'm always struck by the description of a black woman at a German naturist site in the 1930s, recorded by the Merrills on their tour of European naturism. This extract is from 'Turning to Nature in Germany' by John Alexander Williams.

One day of sunshine yesterday, prompted me to pretend it's already spring. In a remote lake in rural Kent, might wait until it's a bit warmer for my next dip! And... not so wise to go cold water swimming alone.

NATO 'surrounding' Russia at the time it invaded Ukraine, borders with NATO member countries marked in red.

Did an amazing walk across a mountain pass to get to the wild Barlovento beach. Made a video guide for the BN website if you are on there, or can DM the link to you.

Saw this beautiful heron a couple of weeks ago, nearly brushed me with its wing as it flew past.
