“To study foreign affairs without putting ourselves into others’ shoes is to deal with illusion.” —Paul Gagnon.

His words still resonate: empathy isn’t just for diplomats—it’s essential in every classroom.

Understanding starts with perspective, and that begins with us.

The assassination of Melissa Hortman is horrifying and unacceptable.

Violence has no place in our politics—EVER.

We can disagree passionately, but no one should be targeted for serving the public.

Honor her memory by rejecting hate and defending democracy.

Elon Musk shouldn’t have more influence over government than working Americans. But #Billionares, like him, dodge taxes, buy platforms, silence critics, and cozy up to politicians. That’s not innovation, it’s manipulation. Democracy shouldn’t be for sale!

I’m convinced that a teacher's greatest lesson isn't found in the curriculum, it's found in the way they make students believe they matter.

Is the US Congress truly representative?

If you fall into any of those underrepresented groups, consider running for office or offer support to those that do.

Only a social studies teacher here, but before this happens the Trump admin may want to look over Art. I, Sec. 9, Clause 8 (Foreign Emoluments Clause).

Doesn’t anyone see a problem?

Cheerio, lad.
You wore the red shirt with pride, & though your boots may now tread different turf, you’ll always be one of ours. Thanks for the memories, the graft, & the moments of magic. You’ll be sorely missed at Anfield. Best of luck on the next leg of your journey — once a Red, always a Red.

Teachers - A gentle reminder: our students come from diverse family backgrounds, and those experiences shape how they learn, engage, and show up in our classrooms.
Let’s continue to teach with empathy, understanding, and flexibility.

My grandfather was born in Bari, Italy, came to America with his older and younger brother when they were children. They spoke fluent Italian, and learned English. By the time they were in their teens they all lost their accent, but gained a Brooklyn one.

As AI becomes more integrated into military operations, the risks to civilians grow. We call for clear limits: humans must remain in control of life-and-death decisions.

Our recommendations outline how IHL must guide the use of AI in warfare.

The Emperor has no clothes!

A virtuous person will tell the truth to those in power even when it may cause themselves harm.

A sycophant will continually build up those in power even if our nation heads in the wrong direction.

Earth Day should not be just an observance of a day. It should be used for all to consider a mindset shift that will result in a way of life for the future. A future focused on reducing plastic production for human and planetary health.

I respectfully disagree with anyone, including our elected officials, who feel that Putin’s Russia didn’t start the war in Ukraine.

Russia is to blame for the war in Ukraine! Putin is a dictator.

It is in America’s best interest to provide aide to Ukraine and distance itself from Putin’s regime.
