Really they aren't... new nuclear is very expensive and takes a decade to build.

The UK's new nuclear is years off and the cost keeps increasing. Hinkley alone will add a 330 surcharge annually on every bill for 30 years.

EVs beat petrol cars on lifetime emissions — even on “dirty” grids.
Battery production is carbon-intensive, but EVs quickly repay that debt and end up 21–71% cleaner over 250,000 km.

We can’t wait for perfect grids: electrify transport and clean the grid now.

It seems so very strange to have lived to see both Russia and America brought down by the worst leaders either nation ever produced. Putin was worse for Russia than any Czar that ever was, and Trump is more evil than Nixon, Reagan and both Bushes combined. "We're just gonna start killing." Indeed.

Data from BNEF on Sizewell C shows electricity costs could hit £286/MWh, making it much more expensive than other technologies. While it helps decarbonise, this price tag raises major questions about cost-effectiveness.

Is nuclear too expensive to be a key part of the UK's energy solution?
