memorizing politics of ancient history
George Wallace 1983-87 administration was the peak of multiracial liberal democracy in the US South. (Trolling, yet not entirely kidding).

de Blasio, whatever his faults, bullied Cuomo into giving NYC hundreds of millions per year for the universal pre-k program, at a time when money was very tight.

The scary thing is, I think Jeffries, Schumer et al would be content with a controlled-opposition party sinecure, a la the leadership of the KPRF.

Though I should mention, the impetus for this yesterday was the throttling of @nathantankus.bsky.social on X. Dude is doing the best reporting available on Musk's destruction the Federal gov't, so naturally, he has become invisible on X.

Part of the problem for me is I have ~100 private Lists, curated and maintained over G-d knows how many man hours, for Us States, for Congress, for Baseball, etc. There is a sense of loss.

People go nuts over building height on LI as well. Once you get above 28' or so, they imagine the precedent will turn the whole neighborhood into Soviet apartment blocs (full of folks 'bussed in' from NYC and other undesirables.)

Things could/would have been a lot worse had Dems not backdoored the Senate on Jan 5 2021. Allowed them to pass massive stimulus/bailout, without which G-d knows how many municipalities go bankrupt. Biden's Judicial nominees may never have been confirmed, etc.

Post-2021 Biden was a disaster.
