Weevils are inexplicably adorable.
Here is a grape seed sized nugget of a weevil for #WeevilWednesday. This tiny friend was found on the underside of a large banana leaf. #inverts

I've been curious for the longest time what the deepest level of parasitism possible is. I know there are #virophages and parasitoid #wasps that parasitize other parasitoid wasps... but what's the longest chain you could find? I'm betting at least 10.

@hankgreen.bsky.social perhaps a scishow idea?

A female Xorides wasp has sensed a beetle grub deep in this redbud tree, and she drills through the wood to deposit an egg on it. Illinois.

There's almost nothing more irritating than someone being loudly, confidently wrong about something you know a lot about. Particularly when it comes to science stuff.

The occasional #bird or #nature photo on here, interspersed between the ever-depressing political and climate news, has been doing wonders for my mental health.

It's like:
- awful thing
- awful thing
- "ooh that's a nice picture, nature is so beautiful"
- more awful things

Post more birds!
