No idea! It’d be fun to do an outdoor piece complete with the metal work and letter outlines, but I don’t know where it would go and I don’t know sheet metal. But we do have a neighborhood burger stand here with neon stripes along the roof and I may need to chat with them about a proper sign…

Big shout out to @electronvalve.co who happened to interact with a post of mine around a year ago, which led me down a path of realizing you can just.. take classes in neon sign making. Who knew? It’s been a ton of fun.

The serifed letters and (mostly) circular letter O were a really fun challenge to make as my third neon piece, and my instructor Stephanie did the best job at explaining how all the bends come together to create the look I envisioned.

Fun fact about Chicago is that if you leave for Indiana from Milwaukee right when the school day ends, you’ll exactly hit rush hour!

Lately we just leave at 7ish and stop at a hotel halfway so that I don’t have to drive until 1am. I’d much rather spend that money on a train!

I want to take the train to visit my parents in the reasonably major city of Indianapolis, but best Amtrak can do for me is the Cardinal route between Chicago NYC, 3 days a week, that stops by Indy going east at midnight and departs back westbound at 6am, never on useful days of the week 🫠

I’m just saying, if Kristina Boardman told us all it was our civic duty to play hooky for a week or two in August to save the tax payers hundreds of millions of dollars, she’d be a folk hero.

Like, shut it down for 7 days, everyone gets $500/day for the hassle. That’s $623m, less than a quarter of the project. Feels like you could save a lot of pennies if you shave *7 years* off a project 🤷

The timelines here are also mind boggling. I wonder how the math shakes out if we shut everything down for, say, a week so they could just rebuild each bridge over a day or two like we see in those viral videos.

Less pork though.

The thing I will never get over is when I asked a wisdot rep if “extra lanes” was really the single best use of $1.7b to move people around, and asked about the new giant brewers exit ramp, I was effectively told that the brewers really like their parking fees

My 8 year old is *very* unhappy with the lack of snow.

I feel a bit left out too.

Metcalfe’s in Tosa sells their butter, looks like they currently have salted, signature, and sweet cinnamon!

(no Amtrak stop but the tracks are across the street)

I like those shows because I like watching absurd terrible people but it’s wild to see someone say those character are relatable 😬
