one of the major hospital systems in my city rn is also catholic. i was referred to them for endocrinology (unrelated to my transition) back in 2018 and they declined to see me because they didnt want to be involved in transition care. they would not listen to my explanation that it was unrelated.

that same hospital system allowed like 8 women in the early 2010s to go septic because they needed emergency miscarriage care but it was considered a form of abortion. theyve been like this for a long time. so like. i guess im honestly mostly surprised that they didnt take this stance sooner?

all her credentials have to be in her legal name that she hasnt gone by in 15 years, and its causing all of our coworkers and clients to call her that too instead of her actual name. this is such an unnecessarily cruel policy.

it was so disheartening. on some levels it's a staffing issue - our literacy instructors were teaching math and shit instead to cover gaps. but that resulted in a broader attitude of "fuck it then, why even try, lost cause" that extended to every student that had issues / difficulty with anything.

nothing worse than watching a kid who can hardly sit still, doesnt know how to read, having games shoved in their face as a solution. theyd click around randomly until they passed each section. all kids who couldnt do mainstream assignments were sent to the sped pod to do this instead of learning.

blew my fucking mind when i was working with that special ed pod and we explicitly werent allowed to give them direct instruction on how to read. they were given computer games remniscent of 2000s flash games that "taught vocab words" and we had to track their progress on those.
