it is easy to look at this and imagine the editing and curation breakdown happening, and assume that the author/editor/whoever would "edit" this to good if they knew it was bad.

sure. throw it back to the LLM it came from with edits and it's "better."
"Runctitiononal features"? "Medical fymblal"? "1 Tol Line storee"? This gets worse the longer you look at it. But it's got to be good, because it was published in Nature Scientific Reports last week: www.nature.com/articles/s41... h/t @asa.tsbalans.se

😭😭
Sadly I never got to see D’Angelo in person but my favorite live D’Angelo moment was when he sang “How Does It Feel” for the first time in a decade in Paris (after leaving it out of early shows on that tour) and they went nuts just from the first chord then went on to sing that chorus pitch perfect:

I got the complaint in the horrific OpenAI self harm case the the NY Times reported today

This is way way worse even than the NYT article makes it out to be

OpenAI absolutely deserves to be run out of business

i've written again about AI products and their intrinsic design flaw: natural language is inherently poor affordance, and it gets worse when other apps adopt it.

do yourself a favor: get your design/design system documentation out of figma
May 27, 2025 at 5:37 PM
all "what i see is what you get" editors have been intrinsically inaccessible, getting sites there would blow up their playbook of simple products that somewhat fall apart when applied to more complex use cases or needs
We're time traveling back to 1997 today, when WISYWIG editors were all the rage. In the decades since, web technology has clawed its way from that primitive state with semantic HTML that made accessibility possible and let content drive appearance rather than vice-versa.

Then Figma blew it all up.
Figma Dreamweaver
The dream of being able to generate working websites will remain out of reach until UX redefines its practice around semantic structure rather than layouts.

i know i'm missing something, who is figma going after? who is their primary persona now? it doesn't seem like it's product teams

i had a similar thought after running into a couple of people who were really, really into FIRE. like, it was their everything. i realized it's not just a hobby or framework - it's their intrinsic identity. there's nothing else.

feels true here too
this makes me think of the many men in silicon valley who don't have actual hobbies aside from coding, which they then turn into work.

how can you conceive of the importance of pleasure if you don't have anything in your life from which you receive non-carnal pleasure?
There’s a real link between AI writing and Silicon Valley meal replacement drinks and the entire fuckin swath of maximizing the human experience and it’s that they view pleasure as being unhelpful to life. I don’t want a drink that replaces a meal, I don’t want a book summary, I want to savor things
