Just thinking about the geography of Superman.

Metropolis, fabled city of gleaming spires and world bestriding newspapers, is the nearest big city to Smallville, Kansas. (Presumingly dwarfing Witchita, pop. 300k)

What is the economic engine underpinning Metropolis’ success in such a location?

I wonder how many people in Wareham appreciate the beauty of a postbox not only with its Post Office sign but one that still points to a working Post Office, and that it’s been sitting in their community like a wonderful museum piece for all those years. #PostboxSaturday 😍📮👈

My husband just had two vertebrae in his neck replaced in a new state-of-the-art clinic by a surgeon who specialises in his condition.

Bill? Zero.

Thank you NHS!
My mother's had breast cancer, hip replacement, sepsis, fractured back, stroke, shingles, and cataracts.

My father had idiopathic nocturnal seizures, tachycardia, heart incidents, and cataracts.

Hospital bill?

Absolutely nothing.

American politicans are lying to you about American healthcare.

It’s over 1,000km from Berlin to Paris

There’s now a direct daytime train between them, that takes 8 hours and costs just €59. Leave at 10am, arrive 6pm.

And… it’s just 1% the carbon emissions of the equivalent flight

Lots of people have been asking about this, so in summary: being on the specialist register is no longer an absolute *legal requirement* for consultant appointments at foundation trusts. (I believe it is still a requirement for non-FTs under the AAC regulations.) However… 1/
Can you be a substantive consultant in the NHS but not on the specialist register? (apologies if I have misunderstood the post)

Of course, legislation on its own wont change culture, but frankly on this issue, I've had enough of ducking and diving, avoidance and denial by leaders, and seen too many good honourable people (including some leaders) destroyed whilst wrongdoing goes unaddressed
Great. Bring it on. Long overdue.
Too many NHS staff who have raised legitimate concerns have had their career wrecked and their health ruined
