is it only asylum seekers our Labour Prime Minister would object to living next to or would the sentiment apply to black and brown people in general? if merely the former, would he like to explain how he knows people he sees, say, in the street, actually are asylum seekers and not citizens?
Oh nothing, just the actual Prime Minister telling people they’re entirely correct to drive asylum seekers out of their communities

Good luck to everyone expecting pupillage news today! It’s also worth saying that everyone I speak to about the application process, including many of the most impressive barristers and pupils I know, did not get pupillage their first time applying. Trust the process!

📖 A really interesting article on @freemovement.bsky.social about the recently published Country Policy and Information Note on #Iran: social media, surveillance and sur place activities. A worthwhile read for lawyers and caseworkers ➡️ freemovement.org.uk/new-iran-cou...

who will write the Equality Impact Assessment for this proposal - Houdini?
UK will discriminate against would-be students who are from persecuted groups.
Palestinian? No visa.
Christian from Pakistan or Iran? No visa.
Woman from Afghanistan? No visa.
Lesbian from Uganda? No visa.
The Home Office will restrict work and study visas from nationalities who are most likely to overstay and claim asylum. Visas will be rejected for individuals who fit the profile of someone who will go on to claim asylum and are from countries with high rates of asylum.

Ahh, the government trying to plug any and all safe routes for individuals at risk of serious harm to stay in the UK. It really disgusts me that they will still simultaneously pedal a narrative about wanting to ‘smash the gangs’ to protect vulnerable people.

Like Danny, I’m often consumed by the question of class. It definitely contributes to my imposter syndrome. I recommend listening if you also feel in this ‘class limbo’ - not quite fitting in at work, but at home your family insist that you’ve gone all posh! podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/t...

Recently immigration practitioners and judges have been singled out on social media, including their personal details. We strongly condemn this external pressure that potentially compromises their independence and work. Read our full statement here: tinyurl.com/yc3udmrn

If you want a pristine example of how absolutely everything in this country is distorted by the perceived need to perform for right wing voters, look no further than the question of permission to work for asylum seekers
