Piece I wrote tracing the historical context of last month’s riots in Ballymena and elsewhere in NI. We have a long history of immigration in NI and also, sadly, a long history of racism.

Northern Ireland has a long history of immigration and diversity. And of racism.
Dr Jack Crangle discusses recent anti-immigration disorder in Northern Ireland, and places it in historical context.

Again we urgently call on ALL MLAs to go to their communities under threat at locations where far-right actions are being announced. With confirmed paramilitary involvement, they must be on the ground tonight as observers or in solidarity.

Urgent: A Call For MLAs To Stand With Their Communities.
On the third day of far-right racist violence across Northern Ireland, tonight we urgently require that all MLAs attend the pre-notified far-right protest locations to act as observers at the least…

We must first acknowledge the girl whose violation sparked the chain of events. We stand in solidarity with her and with her family now and always.
Instead, ostensibly because of the ethnic background of the boys accused of carrying out this attack, the vigil was hijacked by people intent on harm.

It is good to tell our stories.

For this museum to be most educationally useful, it must go beyond tales of derring-do and also address the huge role Irish soldiers played in the brutal and racist colonial expansion and exploitation of the British Empire. www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/news/educati...

A thread worth considering in light of some of our politicans deciding now is the time to boycott the White House St Patrick's Day party over Palestine. Why now and not before? How "principled" can the stance be if explusions under Biden weren't enough, but under Trump they are...
Joe Biden spent eighteen months enabling a genocide in Occupied Palestine. That's a fact. And saying that we must ignore that fact is saying the people murdered *with our American weapons, paid for by our American tax dollars* don't matter.

Saying people should have ignored a genocide is monstrous.
