Paramedic, EMS Division Chief at a fire department.

Content is mine, not my that of my employer.
There was a documentary on Netflix about this. The key takeaway is if you "don't look up" you don't see these things and thus you don't have any problems.

Perhaps someday in the future we will be able to buy hand insurance, foot insurance, digestive insurance and lung insurance. Then you can get exactly the coverage as you want.

Maybe I don't need kidneys. Why insure them?

It's the ultimate in consumer choice. A utopian dream turned to reality.

That's creepy

The Resuscitation Industrial Complex would have you believe this online course provides you with the best possible tools to master:

The Algorithm

$19.95 for the pocket edition
$33 for crash cart edition

Truth. It's just like a random number generator.

Two patients walk-in, both get the same service, one pays $4000 the other pays $175.

And the best part is, neither knows what the cost really is until the explanation of benefits shows up.

I have only one comment for that

What do you estimate is the ballpark cost on that?

So an open air bidet? Splendid.

And carry a radio. Nobody should ever be leaving their vehicle without one, working, and on the right channel.

Crazy to me when I see people without one.

Love the idea. Who actually thinks this is a good idea? Where are these people? Why do these time changes still exist?

Also glad that we have solved every other problem that we can now tackle this.

This is the strangest obsession.

I went to an EMS convention and a glove vendor was there bragging about their fentantyl-proof gloves.

I said, you know this is total BS right? Is this just a way to separate ignorant people from their money?

The response was an awkward laugh.

I've actually been to Idaho. AMA.

I mean the good news at least is ALS doesn't decrease survival to hospital discharge? In much the same way that application of BBQ sauce to the feet wouldn't decrease it either.

The OHCA guidelines really should lead with:

"Do a few things as possible, but the few things you do, do them well."

Surprising. I always thought the tibial IO was more performative than functional.

But not surprising because I'm still waiting for the research that shows any ALS care improves outcomes in OHCA.

It was no small undertaking. We do about 135,000 calls a year, maybe 850 cardiac arrests across 8+ hospitals.

Even salty old timers, guys with 25+ years on the job -They appreciated it.

We'd never done anything like this in 150 years. Never too late to start a tradition.

Thinking I might try to really streamline my personal doctor visits by having AI summarize my symptoms, suggest a diagnosis, treatment, ICD codes, and provide that to the doctor's AI for review so neither of us need to talk or have any interaction and maximum value is extracted with haste.

Never understood the obsession with Tri-X. TMax was superior, and HP5 could do everything Tri-X could do if you wanted to suffer with a film that wasn't as sharp. I remember people bitching TMax was too finicky, but I was always like, well, get your exposure correct. Surprised Tri-X still made.

Not sure how much effort you want to invest, but holy crap, the prices for prepaid processing are NUTS now. Haven't shot film in about 25 years so some sticker shock.

You just need the chemicals, a few reels, tank, and a light changing bag to DIY at home. Pays for itself after maybe 6 rolls.
